HK Festival coming to Auckland in August
Hong Kong Festival comes to Auckland in August
July 15 2010
The sights, sounds and tastes of modern Hong Kong are coming to Auckland in August with the second Hong Kong Festival.
Two key events will be the Hong Kong Film Festival at the Rialto
Newmarket, which starts August 12, and a banquet party at The Langham
Auckland in Symonds St on August 19.
The Film Festival includes eight new movies from Hong Kong, including
one that will premiere in Auckland on the same day as in Hong Kong.
Festival Director Raymond Suen says distributors in Hong Kong are keen
to be involved with the NZ Festival as they are aware of the recent
interaction between Hong Kong and Oscar award winning creative director
Richard Taylor of Weta Workshops through HK’s Cyberport.
The movie reviews, screening times and ticket booking can be found on www.hkfilmfestival.co.nz.
Felix Lee, President of the Hong Kong New Zealand Business
Association, which hosts the festival with sponsorship from HK Economic
and Trade Office, HK Trade Development Council, The Langham Auckland,
Cathay Pacific and HSBC, says the banquet will be a real mid-winter
celebration featuring some of Auckland’s hip young Chinese performers.
